How Ginger’s Divine Ice Cream Saved my April

When everything feels like it’s moving all at once and heavier than usual, it’s important to stop and check in with yourself. Are all your XP levels maxed out? What can help make your avatar’s “happiness” bar move up? Personally, April was an exhausting month where I felt I had no control over anything around me. That being said, one of the best ways to try and shake it off is spend time with people who bring you immense joy…..& occasionally enable your sweet tooth.

One highlight of April was linking up with a couple of my favorite knuckle heads and taking a stroll to Ginger’s in West LA. If you haven’t heard of Ginger’s Divine Ice Cream PLEASE listen up. When we first turned the corner I was slightly shocked about the line out the door, but then I remembered where we were going. I was very pleased to have seen the QR code menu posted outside in the line queue, it felt like they were really looking out for us indecisive chumps (plus we love efficiency)!

After aggressively scrolling through the menu & constantly asking what my friends were getting, I finally made my decision and jotted it down in my Notes App. Tuxedo salty caramel paired with Mint Oreo & fudge was the final verdict - spoiler alert, I couldn’t have been more pleased.

The Tuxedo salty caramel was crafted with in-house-made caramel, Guittard white ribbon chocolate, and bitter dark chocolate. The hints of dark chocolate complement the caramel so well, it almost felt like there were brownie bits mashed inside. It was total mouth-watering perfection. Ginger’s rendition of Mint Oreo & Fudge takes an underrated classic and give it the passion it deserves. It’s made with fresh mint ice cream, crumbled Oreos and in-house-made fudge. The first taste brought me back to my childhood for a quick second. seriously, how can you not like fudge! I originally wanted a waffle bowl but it seems I wasn’t the only one with a great idea so there were none left. Instead I opted for a sugar cone on top like a little hat.

To make everything better, when I approached the glorious gallery of yummy ice cream, my server was almost as sweet as the treats! I walked up and said “Hello, how are you”, they kindly replied “Great now that you’re here!” and it made me melt. The only thing better than delicious food is warm customer service. I know working with the public can be a mixed bag, so for someone to still carry on and be so nice & attentive is great.

I highly recommend you kick off your weekend by taking a cool walk over to Ginger’s. Call a friend and make it a date. It may feel like we don’t have time for indulgences, but make time! Your body and mind will thank you later. While you’re at it, go ahead and follow Ginger’s on Instagram so you dont miss out on seasonal flavors.
